Jasmine Guillory – 4/5 Stars
Read this if you:
· enjoy a fake situationship
· love a strong female lead
· can’t get enough of The Wedding Date Series
Synopsis:
Ben Stevens is perpetually single (but always playing the field) until he lands the ad campaign of a lifetime – featuring the incredible Anna Gardiner who he can’t keep himself from flirting with. Anna has no interest in relationships, she’s focused on nailing this campaign, landing her next movie, and becoming a household name. When she notices Ben’s interest, however, she can’t help but flirt back. During filming, Anna is faced with a family emergency and she turns to Ben for help, bringing them closer together as well as an opportunity to turn their interest in each other into a camera-ready fling.
My thoughts on the book:
I can’t get enough of this series! I love how the books are all connected so we get a peek at favourite characters from past books but you don’t need any background to pick them up out of order. I loved seeing a different side of Ben in this book, he was so pulled together in Theo’s story and was such a ladies’ man, it was cute to see him lose his cool a bit with Anna. I also really enjoyed the vulnerability of the characters in this story. Jasmine really leaned in to the topics of anxiety and the down side of living in the spotlight which was so effective, especially when combined with Anna’s strong personality and career ambitions.
I felt as though the long-lost sister story line was a bit underdeveloped and wish it was either elaborated on more or left out altogether. I definitely thought it added to Ben’s story and helped to show a more vulnerable side of him but it felt unfinished by the end of the book.
