Finlay Donovan is Killing It by Elle Cosimano – 4/5 Stars

Synopsis:
Finlay Donovan is just trying to write her big break – the book that will get her out of debt, her ex-husband off her back, and win her mom of the year. When she meets with her agent to discuss the new book’s plot, a woman at a neighbouring table mistakes her as a killer-for-hire and offers her more money than she can imagine to dispose of her husband. Finlay soon realizes that real life crime is very different from the ones in her fictional stories as she finds herself in the middle of a murder investigation.
My Thoughts on the Book:
Late to the game but couldn’t pass up the opportunity to recreate this iconic bookstagram cover! This book was so incredibly fun and fast paced, I couldn’t put it down! The writing in this book was also incredible – just when you thought Finlay would finally catch a break, there’s an inevitable plot twist and she has a whole other issue to overcome.
The characters in this book were so funny, likeable, and well developed that I found myself seriously invested in them finishing their job. I loved the addition of some love interests to spice things up a bit, without it being part of the central plot of this book. Although this was much different from my usual reads, I feel like it fits right in with so many books I love, such a great mix of mystery and humour! As much as I wish I read this one sooner, I’m so glad I don’t need to sit on that cliffhanger for very long!
