Synopsis:

When Tanner King is demoted from a sales job at his family’s company to dressing up as their mascot, he takes the first opportunity that comes to him, even if that means that he’ll now be working under his ex-girlfriend. Even though Tanner has avoided Lucy since she hightailed it out of his home after he told her he loved her (after 5 weeks of dating), the two of them make a pact to put their past behind them for the sake of both their jobs. As the two of them continue to work closely together, sparks begin to fly and they both realize that there may still be something between them after all.

My Thoughts on the Book:

New book boyfriend alert! Tanner is a dreamboat – no aversion to periods, quotes Mr. Darcy… and the FOREARMS! His love story with Lucy is the sweetest, I loved how quickly they realized they belonged together and how happy they made each other. Even with this quick-ish resolution, this book was enough of a slow burn to pull me in and keep the interest from start to finish.
The focus on family troubles in this book really set it apart from being a run-of-the-mill second-chance romance. I really enjoyed this additional layer to the story, it brought so much more out of the characters and really showed how compatible they are.
I highly recommend the whole King Family series but this can definitely be read as a stand-alone!
