· like an MC who learns they can stand on their own two feet
· can handle a little heartbreak
Synopsis:
With the dissolution of her second marriage, Jessica Gabriel is reluctant to jump back into dating but with some convincing from her kids, she gets herself a new haircut, gym membership, and dating profile. While making her way through all the eligible bachelors that pique her interest, she also has to learn a new job with an incompetent boss and navigate mothering adults. Throughout her journey she learns a ton about new-to-her dating terms as well as how strong and independent she really is.
My thoughts on the book:
This book was so funny and so real. As much as I loved reading about the awful dates that Jess was subjected to, I felt so awful for her and often found myself experiencing second hand embarrassment from them. I loved the integration of Jess’s kids’ love lives into the story and the comparisons that could be seen between her dating experiences and theirs.
I did find that the stories did eventually become tired and repetitive although I guess that could just be the reality of the dating world currently. There are also some super heartbreaking chapters at the end of the book that I didn’t find were very important to the story though they did add some more depth to Jess’s character.
Special thank you to the author for sending me this book in exchange for an honest review!
